of Florida is seeking a Full-time Advanced Practice Nurse
Practitioner. The ARNP will work both independently or in
collaboration with other healthcare professionals to deliver
family-focused care, including but not limited to wellness and
prevention, direct care and counselling across the patient’s life
span; addressing potential public health issues that may affect the
local community/school. Will work directly under the medical
supervision of the Senior Provider and Clinic Physician (Contract
and/or FTE) and otherwise supervised by the Chief Health Director.
The work location will be assigned to the Miccosukee Walk-In Health
Clinic but will also conduct home-visits within the
community-at-large, and in-patient settings as needed. TASK
PERFORMED: Provide complete patient intake regarding their medical
history, which include medication, hospitalizations, surgeries,
etc., in order to develop a comprehensive evaluation for assessment
of their overall health. Provide assessment, diagnosis and
treatment of a wide variety of illnesses and diseases, and in
accordance to written protocols established by nurse practitioner
and physician, to be filed with the appropriate licensing board.
Order laboratory tests and perform limited laboratory procedures
afforded on-sight and/or send off-site to a certified laboratory.
Refer patients for diagnostic tests to contract diagnostic
facilities, in accordance with protocols and procedures. Refer
clients to other health professionals and agencies, in accordance
with protocols and procedures. Ensure all patients receive
counseling and education about health-related problems. Must
complete all documentation within the patient Electronic Health
Record within the shift the care/treatment was provided; consult
and lab reviews to be completed within a timely manner as to not
have a negative impact on the patient. Assist the Health Director
and/or Clinic Physician in the development and coordination of an
outreach program and in-service education program for the Health
Department staffing. Provide technical assistance to the health
education projects in the development and implementation stages.
Participate in other special projects for the Health Department.
Consult and plan diet care with other health professionals and
agencies. Conduct home visits as needed. Assume responsibility for
the ordering and maintenance of health care supplies and equipment,
which can be accomplished by delegation of Clinic Nurses. Draft
correspondence regarding clients or the direct health care service.
Must complete a monthly narrative report of services and activities
which the ARNP was directly involved in, as well as providing
recommendations and/or negative impacts which were experienced.
This is needed to ensure direct communication to the Health
Director for improvement of services being offered to the
Miccosukee Service Area population. Must work collaboratively with
all shift ARNP’s, to ensure constant patient care communication,
i.e. shift changes, STAT patient issues, medication issues, etc.
Must work with the Clinic Physician to ensure the oversight of the
Clinic Pharmacy is intact at all times, which includes working
directly with the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technicians, and Clinic
RNs; includes but is not limited to dispensing of one (1) week
and/or seven (7) days’ worth of prescribed medication in stock, in
the absence of the Pharmacist; release of medications already
filled by the Clinic Pharmacy and/or off-site Pharmacies; provided
“double-check” procedures for patient and medication identification
(ARNP/RN); following of all Health Department/Pharmacy protocols.
Must work as a team in the established health priorities and
reporting requirements of funding sources, i.e. GPRA, Diabetes,
Immunizations, Women’s Health, etc.; and in accordance with Tribal
and Health Department Policies and Procedures, established
protocols and Indian Health Service (HIS) Contracted Scope of Work.
Must keep Health Director informed of all concerns (patient,
clinic, staffing, health priorities, etc.) at all times. Other
Duties Supervises and advises Registered Nurses, LPNS and CNAs Must
be willing to assist with coverage of all shifts of the Miccosukee
Clinic for regular business hours, holidays, and hurricane shelter
during period of initiation of the shelter, as well as post
hurricane (alpha/bravo) schedules; and in accordance with the
Health Department Hurricane Preparedness Plan. DEA License required
and management of DEA medications as needed. Must be skilled in
applying minor treatment procedures Performing simple routine
laboratory procedures and in diagnosing, treating, and managing
illnesses and conditions according to protocols. Must have physical
assessment skills to perform complete histories and physical
examinations. Must be able to conduct research and supervise
personnel. Must have good communication skills, both verbal and
written Other duties as required. TECHNICAL/ PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:
Must be skilled in applying minor treatment procedures, in
performing simple routine laboratory procedures and in diagnosing,
treating, and managing illnesses and conditions according to
protocols. Must have physical assessment skills to perform complete
histories and physical examinations. Must be able to conduct
research and supervise personnel. Must have good communication
skills, both verbal and written. EDUCATION: Must possess an RN
license and a certification as an Advanced Registered Nurse
Practitioner, from an accredited/approved school, with a
concentration in Family Practice. EXPERIENCE: Several years’
experience as an ARNP is preferred but must have a minimum of four
(4) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse, prior to ARNP
licensing. HUMAN SKILLS : Must be able to work well with
individuals and groups under unpleasant or stress conditions. Must
be capable of working with people in a cross-cultural setting. Must
have a valid Florida driver’s license, with a safe driving record.
